Filter Design and System Engineer

Location: Belgium, Mechelen

Your main responsibilities will be to

  • Design, simulate and verify hyperspectral filter implementations, in close collaboration with Spectricity process engineers and product engineers.
  • Design for manufacturing of Spectricity hyperspectral products, with emphasis on the filter design and system co-design, including process, manufacturing, optics and package tolerances.
  • Development of system models and internal development tools.
  • Together with our engineering team, design our sensor products, characterize the system specifications, define test systems to validate the design, analyze measurement results and propose improvements.

  • You have a master’s degree in Engineering or a similar relevant degree by proven experience.
  • Preferable, you have previous experience in optical design, thin film design or system engineering.
  • You are a fast learner with a drive to excel.
  • You are a team-player who can efficiently interact with your peers in the Engineering department, Application engineers in the Marketing department, Test, Process and Manufacturing engineers in the Operations Department as well as the CTO Office.
  • You have experience in developing optical component and/or system modeling tools, with a focus on product development. You know and apply design concepts such as MC, tolerance analysis, DFM.
  • You have a solid understanding of elementary electronics and optics, boards, systems and test equipment, and have a strong analytic capacity to analyze cross-domain complex systems.
  • Massive amounts of simulation and measurement data do not scare you.
  • You have a healthy focus on quality and a knack for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with spectroscopy and/or optical systems is a strong plus.
  • You have experience with python.
  • You are fluent in English, and have good presentation skills.

Senior Software Engineer

Location: Belgium, Mechelen

Your main responsibilities will be to

  • work together with Computer Vision Engineers to develop processing algorithms for the multispectral
    cameras
  • translate Python prototypes of algorithms into efficient GPU implementations, for mobile and desktop
    targets
  • provide integration and development support in building camera evaluation kits and demonstrators
  • review code and coach engineers, who are not programmers but that do use code on a daily basis, towards a
    better overall quality of infrastructure

Your profile, skills and talents

Ideally you are a creative, self-dependent engineer, highly-motivated to be part of a dynamic team creating new value,
continuously and actively seeking better solutions for our problems. Specifically:

  • You have a master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar relevant degree, with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Software engineering, rather than just coding, is your trade. You are comfortable at all levels of abstraction, from architecture planning to debugging of the low-level driver code.
  • You master one of the GPGPU technologies: OpenCL, Vulkan Compute, CUDA
  • You have experience with media processing pipelines, e.g. GStreamer
  • You are not afraid of any programming task needed to get the work done efficiently, whether it required using Python, Go, Matlab, Javascript, Embedded-C or anything around
  • You are proficient with Python
  • Git and continuous integration and unit tests are the tools you use daily, you can solve any Git-related glitches without problems
  • You are comfortable developing for Windows, MacOS and Linux. Android/iOS development history is a plus
  • You keep up-to-date with all the newest trends, e.g. Flutter, Mojo, Vulkan, etc.
  • You are fluent in English, and have good presentation skills

Field Application Engineer China

Location: China

Your main responsibilities will be to

  • Define and build complex image sensor and camera test systems, together with our system engineers.
  • Define our sensors and cameras:
    • Define the right metrics and measure performance, analyse and document the results.
    • Investigate complex optical properties and data analysis to improve efficiency.
  • Learn and understand the Spectricity proprietary filter technology to interpret the obtained measurement results.
  • Technically support the customers and partners in Asia. You will be the technical interface to the Belgium-based R&D
    teams:

    • Provide proactive technical support, problem solving and Q&A for clients and partners to drive for design-
      win and customer satisfaction.
    • Define and establish required documentation, training materials, agenda and conduct technical training.
    • Participate in and facilitate failure analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support BD and Marketing to help define the customer and product requirements
    • Attend trade shows and industry events when needed
    • Conduct product demonstrations
    • Discuss with prospective customers what they need in terms of product specifications, link the customer
      application to our product specifications
  • Support the operations team
    • Visit and interface with Asia-based suppliers

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or similar
    relevant degree by proven experience
  • You have proven experience with image sensors or camera products, and a good understanding of elementary
    electronics and optics, boards and systems architecture
  • You understand industry trends, system architecture, block diagram and client roadmaps & client’s needs.
  • You are very fluent in English and Chinese/Mandarin, and have good presentation skills
  • You are willing to travel to Europe often

You have the perfect background if:

  • You have experience with smartphone camera integration
  • You have experience with Automatic White Balance algorithms and their implementations on SoCs
  • You are well versed in image color and recoloring pipeline
