Your main responsibilities will be to
– Develop spectral imaging processing algorithms and calibration techniques to output correct spectral image data from our cameras in volumes
– Support the engineering team to optimize the camera products and production test based on the spectral algorithm requirements
– Together with the application team, develop targeted spectral imaging applications extracting spectral features leaning on computer vision and machine learning modeling
– Co-define and execute the company roadmap

Your profile, skills and talents

Ideally you are a creative, self-dependent engineer or scientist, highly-motivated to be part of a dynamic team creating new value, continuously and actively seeking better solutions for our problems. Specifically:

– You have a master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering or similar relevant degree by proven experience and at least 5-10 years of experience in a computer vision and image processing.
– Signal processing and computer vision are your trade. You are comfortable at all levels of abstraction, from architecture to implementation of algorithm code. You are on top of quality standards with respect to software implementation and verification
– You have proven experience in applied Machine Learning and development of AI-based solutions.
– You are proficient with Python. Git and continuous integration and unit tests are the tools you use daily
– Experience with spectroscopic analysis is a very strong plus
– You are a leader who can efficiently interact with your peers within CTO office, engineering and marketing teams
– You are fluent in English, and have good presentation skills

Product development lead

Your main responsibilities will be 

  • Hands-on system modelling and simulations.
  • To follow up on the development programs, assist hands-on where needed and help drive decisions in line with the customer needs.
  • To interface with internal and external customers to align needs and development specifications.
  • To help define – and execute – the full product specifications to meet the customer requirements:
    • Sensor electrical and optical design requirements
    • Package, module and optics requirements
    • Testing needs to guarantee quality products
    • Collateral material to go to market
  • To do this, you will have to
    • Understand the end product use case in the customer’s system
    • Understand the target system components and interfaces
    • Understand the customer needs to easy design in of our products
    • Understand the eco-system of the application
    • Understand the available technology and its design space
  • Give inputs to the technical roadmap to define future products
  • Work with partners to create an overall solution

In your role, you

  • Are part of the Engineering team, focusing on product architecture and development execution of the product in its different components, reporting to VP Engineering.
  • Will collaborate closely with the CTO office, process technology, R&D, Business Development and operations teams.
  • Collaborate closely with our customers and suppliers.
  • Are prepared to travel worldwide up to 20% of your time.

Your profile, skills and talents

  • You have a master’s degree in engineering, sciences or a similar technical discipline; a PhD degree is a plus.
    • A background in image sensors, camera systems/modules is a plus.
    • At least 10 years of hands-on industry experience with:
    • Image sensor design and applications.
    • CMOS Si processes and flows.
    • Optical systems.
    • Good understanding of the semiconductor development flow.
  • You are fluent in English and have excellent communication skills.

Your profile, skills and talents

Ideally you are creative and self-dependent, highly-motivated to be part of a dynamic team creating new value, continuously and actively seeking better solutions for our problems. Specifically:

  • You have a master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering or similar relevant degree by proven experience and at least 5-10 years of experience in AI.
  • AI is your trade. You have many years of proven industrial experience in proposing and developing neural network architectures for real world applications. You have a deep understanding of the architectures and their merits and issues, beyond simple use of neural nets.
  • You are able to propose and develop training routines and merit functions, understand requirements on generating the appropriate large training datasets, and you have a critical mindset to analyze results and iterate forward.
  • You are proficient with Python, Keras, Tensorflow, and preferably also with Pytorch, VertexAI and GCP. Git and continuous integration and unit tests are the tools you use daily.
  • Experience with embedded implementations on hardware and edge compute is a strong plus.
  • Experience with computer vision and/or spectroscopy is a plus.
  • You are a leader who can efficiently interact with your peers within CTO office, engineering and marketing teams.
  • You are fluent in English, and have good presentation skills.

Spectricity Raises €14 Million Series B Funding as it Accelerates Plans to Deliver Industry Leading Hyperspectral Sensing to Mobile and Consumer Devices

Funding Expands Growth for Tiny Chip-size Sensors for Unimaginable New Applications

Mechelen, Belgium, August 3, 2021 – Spectricity, a leading provider of hyperspectral sensing solutions for mobile and consumer devices, announced today a €14 million ($16M US) Series B funding round to further accelerate the development and mass production of hyperspectral sensors and imagers for high-volume, low-cost applications from wearables to smartphones and IoT devices.

Hyperspectral sensing allows devices to “see” beyond what the naked eye can see. The sensor can tell you your heartbeat, the amount of oxygen in your blood or the hydration of your skin, while hyperspectral imagers can be used to perfectly match your skintone to cosmetics or to determine whether your food is fresh. Spectricity’s patented, spectral sensing technology is the only one in the world that can make professional grade sensor and imager solutions small and low power enough to fit a smartphone or a wearable device. This unique technology will bring a wide array of health, cosmetic, food and augmented reality applications to the pockets and/or the wrists of the consumers.

Leading global investors including AtlanticBridge, Capricorn Fusion China Fund, and Shanghai Semiconductor Equipment and Material Fund (SSMEF) invested in this Series B round alongside Belgium Series A investors imec.xpand and XTRION. This round brings Spectricity to €20 million in total funding to date.

According to a recent March 2021 paper on the compact spectrometer systems market, emerging chip-size spectrometers are going to fuel growth to more than 300 million chips per year in 2024. New type spectrometers will be as small as semiconductor chips. (1)
